Financial Management Strategy
Council needs to manage finances wisely, to remain financially strong, to cover costs, and to meet community’s needs - now and in the future.
The Financial Management Strategy provides a balanced approach to managing our finances. It shows how Council will tackle the key challenges we know are coming over the next ten years.
It is based on income trends, current service levels, and the existing assets we must maintain or replace over the next decade, guided by the following three principles:
- The community’s money will be managed responsibly to support the wellbeing of our residents;
- The community’s wealth will be looked after so that future generations can enjoy the same benefits as people today; and
- Finances will be kept strong enough to bounce back from unexpected events and deal with ups and downs in income and expenses.
