Site remediation and relocation of dog off-leash area
How works may affect you
There will be temporary changes to traffic conditions including reduced speed limits and reduced parking. Traffic controllers will be on site to safely direct vehicles and pedestrians around the work zone. Works may be loud at times however efforts will be made to minimise disruption. Thank you for your understanding as we work on this important project for our community.
City of Canterbury Bankstown will be carrying out works at Richard Podmore Reserve to safely remove asbestos-contaminated materials. As part of these works, we will also relocate the existing dog off-leash area to Wise Reserve, Riverwood.
The scope of works includes:
- Fence installation around the work site
- Cell construction to safely contain contaminated material and covering with clean soil
- Site rehabilitation to support future bushland reserve
- Relocation of the existing dog off-leash area to Wise Reserve, Riverwood
- Install park facilities at the new location including seating, waste bins and drinking water fountain
- Minor site works to connect the new dog off-lease area with existing pathways and park amenities
Works are expected to start Monday 31 August and be completed early November 2026 – weather permitting. Work hours will be Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm and Saturday 7am-1pm.
