How works may affect you

Partial road and footpath closures are expected. Work may be loud. There will be no parking next to the work site. From the evening of Tuesday 7 June 2022 there will be permanent no parking in front of 69 The Mall as work to convert the area into a pedestrian only zone commences. More information will be provided in a separate notification regarding planned temporary bus relocations and road closures during work on The Appian Way, The Mall and North Terrace.

Bankstown CBD transformation

The completed vision will transform Bankstown CBD into a leading education, health and lifestyle hub, creating thousands of new jobs and injecting millions of dollars into the local economy. Designed with the community in mind, the new CBD will celebrate our diversity and sense of community that is unique to Bankstown.

The changes to our City are a blend of transformation projects carried out by City of Canterbury Bankstown, Sydney Metro, Vicinity Centres and Walker Corporation.

This will be done by providing increased drainage capacity under the road surfaces of North Terrace, The Appian Way and The Mall. The project will require some road closures, with detours around the work site. Please follow the messages on the variable message signs around the CBD.
