We’re one week in! Make sure you stop by Lakemba Nights during Ramadan to taste your way through several continents in one night.
Top tip: come early in the night to make the most of the event, stalls open from 6pm.
Lakemba Nights during Ramadan is partly funded by Transport for NSW and Multicultural NSW.
This event is proudly sponsored by Western Union, SBS and Sydney Water.
Dear Resident,
Our City’s biggest event, Lakemba Nights during Ramadan, is underway with more than 170,000 people attending during the first four days.
Opening night was a huge success and I was particularly proud to see people of all different faiths, cultures and backgrounds come together to enjoy a meal.
It was a great atmosphere with people mingling freely and engaging with each other and the stallholders, who had prepared some exotic dishes.
Some of the treats on offer included camel burgers, flaming paan leaves that tingle in your mouth and warm camel milk hot chocolate.
I had the pleasure of meeting visitors from interstate and around the world, including a group of people who had travelled from Colombia, all there to experience what we have to offer.
The event is not just about the food, but also about bringing the community together.
Lakemba Nights during Ramadan will run every Thursday-Sunday until 30 March. I encourage everyone to come along with friends and family to experience our City's diverse flavours and take part in unique cultural traditions in a safe and welcoming environment.
What we must remember is Ramadan is a period of sharing, fasting and for Muslims around the world, a time to reflect and pray.
