Mayor’s message
There’s so much for us to enjoy in Canterbury-Bankstown. In just minutes, you can go from shopping or dining in a bustling town centre to a peaceful walk in the park or a riverside bike ride.
That variety means a lot to care for, and we can all help with that.
Right now, we’re making improvements across our town centres, including more frequent pavement washing, upgraded bins, and fresh mulch and plantings. We’ve also received a Special Entertainment Precinct Kickstarter grant to boost the night‑time economy in Bankstown and Campsie. And your new Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre has reached another milestone, at 75% complete.
While we look after these big projects, we also need your help.
Small actions, when we all take them, make a big difference – from taking our litter‑free pledge to protect our parks, to using our chemical waste and e‑waste collection days to help prevent hazards.
Together, we make our City an even better place to live.

Our streets and centres are glowing up
We’ve been busy around our city to improve the cleanliness for everyone to enjoy.
Your feedback has helped ensure we’re delivering the projects that matter most to you.
With additional funding through the SRV we are currently working on:
• Drain and pit cleaning to keep our streets and waterways tidy
• More pavement washing across all our centres
• Deep cleans of multi-level car parks
• New bins in Revesby and upgraded bins in other town centres
• Street tree pruning program
• Regular street vacuuming in our town centres
Special Entertainment Precincts are coming
We’ve received a Special Entertainment Precinct Kickstart grant to support late-night trading for businesses and stimulate the night-time economy.
The precincts will be trialled in two areas – Bankstown and Campsie – and will help to build vibrant, successful and diverse hubs in our City!
By establishing these precincts, we can tailor trading hours and sound rules to help shops, hospitality and live music and performance venues to thrive. We’ll be reaching out again soon to get your feedback on these precincts.
This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government.

We like our parks litter free!
Have you seen us at your local park? Members of our Sustainability Team have been visiting parks across Canterbury-Bankstown to talk to park users about the importance of keeping our parks clean and tidy.
The result? Park lovers are pledging to keep our parks clean by placing their rubbish in the bin or taking it home with them. Keep an eye out for us in your local parks this autumn and join us in taking the litter-free pledge!
