Join us for a fun Pets Day Out in Milperra!

Pets Day Out will be back again on Sunday 10 November at Vale of Ah, Milperra.

We are barking with excitement to see you and your furry friend at this FREE event. This isn’t just any day out – it’s a celebration of everything fabulous and furry. Think pet parades, fur-tastic activities for the whole family and a whole heap of fun. Make sure you read the full list of activities below to find something for you! 

Live locally? Skip the traffic and take your pet for a walk to the event. You can enter via paths from Henry Lawson Drive and Raleigh Road, near Raleigh Reserve.

On the day

On arrival, make sure you visit the Animal Chill Zone.

Have any concerns about dogs barking, animal complaints or wanting to know about other pet-friendly parks and reserves? Then this is the place to chill with your pet and have a chat to the Animal Control Officers.

Plus ask questions about your pet, find out about the Companion Animals Act or pet registration processes or let one of our friendly officers walk you through the process of paying animal registration feed online. 

FREE dog microchipping will also be available for Canterbury-Bankstown residents. If you have a cat you can book an appointment for a home service. Please remember to bring proof of residency with you.

While you’re there, visit Cat Nip Corner and participate in ‘Where is your cat’ conversations and see what cat enclosures are available for your cat to enjoy a secure space.

Did we mention giveaways?

There will be FREE animal show bags filled with exciting items such as pop-up dog bowls, tennis balls, treats, bandanas, leashes and complimentary pet tag engraving. Or collect a couple of items from the FREE pet food pantry.

The Rossmore Animal Shelter will also be on site with dogs or cats available for adoption seeking their furever home.

Take a seat and hear from animal experts address the top questions many dog owners have, plus an opportunity for you to ask questions. Our program for the day includes:

  • 11.15am Perfect puppies
  • 1.15pm Summer dangers for dogs
  • 2.15pm Considerations when buying a dog

Showcase your pet on the day by joining our Pet Parade! Both you and your pet will strut your stuff around the Pet Talk Stage, with all participants receiving a goodie bag to take home.

Registrations will open on the day before the Pet Parade begins at noon, but only the first 20 people to register will be able to partake, so don’t miss out!

One winner will be selected at random to win a prize valued at $100. Any leashed pet is welcome to register – so come along to see if a cat, lizard, parrot, rabbit, dog or other animal will be the lucky winner!

Take the opportunity to give your pet some space and sniff around on a 15-minute leashed walk next to the Georges River.

Sign up on the day and take your pet on the gentle grassed 500 metre walk between 11.30am- 2.30pm. Be one of the first 100 to complete the walk on the day to receive a FREE metal Sydney Water bowl.

Professional dog walkers will also be available for the walk, so feel free to talk to them about getting the most out of walking your dogs in your neighbourhood.

Plus, the Animal Control Officers will meet you at the halfway check point to hand out doggy poop bags or other treats.

The fun doesn’t end there – there will be lots of FREE activities for  the whole family to enjoy including:

  • Baby animal farm: get up close to a baby calf, sheep, goat, duck, duckling, chicken, guinea pigs and rabbits
  • Paint your pet workshop: join 1 of 4 classes to paint your pet on canvas and take home your artwork, limited spots will be available so first in first served
  • Pet styling: treat your pet to either a brush and bow, nail painting or tail and ear highlights by professional dog groomers     
  • Nailbling and charms  for children and adults
  • Facepainting for children and adults
  • Kids Krafts: crafts, colouring, games for children and information about available family services in Canterbury-Bankstown
  • Community Engagement: participate in a survey, with a chance to win a complimentary mini puppiccino, pop-up dog bowl, or a mystery item on the day
  • Roving musician Slide McBride will provide light relaxing tunes 
  • SES Bankstown will have children’s activities and information
  • Keep an eye out for The Compliment Guy who will be spreading the good vibes on the day

Brutus and Bella, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs mascots, will also be visiting and be available for photos. Make sure you visit the Bulldogs marquee to say hello.

  • Animal Trust Society: learn about the society and some of their friendly foster animals 
  • RSPCA NSW: learn about volunteering and current projects running in NSW
  • Cat Protection Society: providing current information about responsible cat care as well as discounted desexing programs
  • Sydney Dogs and Cats Home: learn about reuniting, rehabilitating and rehoming lost and abandoned animals

Talk to businesses about their services available specific to your pet’s needs.      

  • Carbine Canine: learn about puppy development, pet and advanced obedience, behavioural modification and walking. They will also be bringing their own canines to demonstrate their extensive knowledge in training dogs
  • Hanrob Pet Hotels & Dog Training Academy: providing dog training advice, pet boarding information and details of their animal studies through Hanrob College
  • SASH – Small Animal Specialist Hospital: FREE goodie bags, vet checks and   pet advice, plus check out the SASH ambulance
  • Wagtail Walkers: provide information about dog walking and pet care services for your beloved pet

The event is outdoors, so remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and protective clothing.

The recent rain and heat means that there will be mosquitoes, so it’s important to follow these tips to protect yourself:

  • Cover up by wearing long, loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing, covering as much of the body as you can. Mosquitoes can bite through tight clothing like jeans. Make sure children are also appropriately covered up.
  • Repel by applying insect repellent containing picaridin or DEET evenly to exposed skin. Don’t forget to reapply if you’re outside for an extended period of time.

Yes absolutely, we love furry friends just as much as you do! All leashed and well-behaved pets are welcome to attend. Owners must pick up after their pet and dispose in garbage bins provided. Animal Control Officers will be at the event and there are two off leash park spaces next to the event.

No, this is an alcohol-free event. You cannot purchase or bring any alcohol with you.

FREE dog microchipping will be available to Canterbury-Bankstown residents. Please bring proof of residency with you. If you have a cat that needs to be microchipped please talk to our Animal Control Officers to arrange a home visit.
