New lighting is coming to Haldon Street in Lakemba.
How works may affect you
Works will be carried out Monday to Friday between 8pm-5am.
During that time, there will be partial road closures with temporary detours in place to ensure public safety. Nearby businesses and residents may experience temporary noise, dust and increased vehicle movements. Council and its contractors will make every effort to minimise disruptions and maintain safe access where possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work on this important upgrade for our community.
We're working on an exciting upgrade on Haldon Street in Lakemba.
This upgrade responds to community feedback for more lighting in the area. Council will install new overhead decorative lighting along the median strip on Haldon Street, from Oneata Street towards The Boulevarde. The lighting will brighten the street year-round and help create a vibrant atmosphere during community events, including Lakemba Nights during Ramadan.
As part of the upgrade, Council will also install smart multi-purpose poles. These poles can be used to display banners and support future improvements as the area grows.
This investment will enhance the look and feel of Haldon Street while creating a safer and more vibrant space for residents, businesses and visitors.
Works is expected to start in September and be completed early 2027.
