We are part of the Canterbury-Bankstown Disability Abuse Prevention Collaborative.
The Collaborative works to respond to local issues and needs, and creates awareness of abuse of people with disability, with a focus on prevention. In doing so, we support the NSW Ageing and Disability Commission.
The purpose of our Collaborative is to protect adults with disability from abuse, neglect and exploitation in their family, home and community. We created it in February 2021 in response to increasing concerns of abuse and neglect of adults with disability in the community. In doing so, we became the first Collaborative in NSW to form, and are made up of from representatives from the local health district, local government, service providers, police, housing and legal services.
We created this video in partnership with the Canterbury-Bankstown Disability Abuse Prevention Collaborative. It's our hope that this video will help raise awareness about the rights of people with disability. It shows different signs of abuse to help you be able to better detect, identify and call our abuse, and highlights where help and support can be found.
