Fancy yourself as the next Billie Eilish or Harry Styles? Here’s your big break! Warm up your vocal cords and take the first big step in the life you’ve always dreamed of - audition for TAP and you could be shining in the spotlight on The Voice – just like our own Theonie Marks.

The team behind City of Canterbury Bankstown’s highly successful Talent Advancement Program (TAP) is on the hunt for new talent. The TAP program has nurtured talents like Casey Donovan and Theonie Marks. The auditions are the first step to finding the next great local singer to follow in their footsteps.

CBCity Mayor, Khal Asfour, is TAP’s number one fan.

“The talent of these young people blows me away every year,” says Mayor Asfour. “And we’ve seen that this program is a genuine stepping stone to success as a singer – most recently demonstrated by Theonie Marks’ incredible appearances on The Voice.”

“It’s not just about having a great voice, we’re also looking for energy and a commitment to improvement. That’s the key to reaching your full potential.”

Theonie Marks says she’ll never forget the moment international star Rita Ora turned her chair on the Voice. It was “instant euphoria” for Theonie. Suddenly, she was part of “Team Rita” and onto the next stage of the competition.

For Theonie, that night on the Voice was the culmination of years of hard work, which began in TAP.

“I was in TAP from the ages of 12 to 17 and it was the most amazing experience because it improved my vocal range and built my confidence,” Theonie said.
Young singers chosen for the program will enjoy coaching in vocal and performance skills from expert tutors and teachers, plus the chance to hone their performing skills at local events and festivals.

Auditions are open to students aged 12-18 who live or go to school in the Canterbury-Bankstown LGA.

A community project by the City of Canterbury Bankstown, supported by NSW Department of Education, TAP was launched in 2002 and has discovered and nurtured more than 350 young singers, including Casey Donovan, many of whom have gone on to do great things in the performing arts world.
