Take a shot at something new or defend your title as a reigning champion at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre’s (MIISC) Netball Super 7’s competition.
Whether you’re a netball newbie or a seasoned centre, the Open Ladies Super 7’s competition is the perfect place to practise your skills in a fun and social setting.
Last season’s winning team, the ‘Lucky Ducks’ is made up of a group of friends in their 50’s and their daughters.
Team Captain Deanne Stanley said the competition is a great opportunity for the mothers and daughters to have some good fun and banter.
“It’s good for us to catch up each week, have a bit of a laugh and we get together socially afterwards,” Ms Stanley said.
“Some of us have played since we were five years old and others came back to the game after a long time.”
For the team, winning last season’s final against the ‘Bunmarras’ 37-19 was a testament that they’ve “still got it!”
“We do play hard so we get a good workout at the same time,” Ms Stanley said.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek encouraged locals to check out the many offerings at MIISC.
“Our indoor sports centre offers a variety of sports for all ages and abilities,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to have fun, stay fit and connect with family and friends.
“Plus, our high-quality indoor courts mean no cancellations due to wet weather!”
Registrations are now open for the spring Netball Super 7’s season, which runs on Wednesday evenings, at 6pm, from 21 August-4 December.
Keep your team together over the off season or gather a team of friends for a game and a laugh. You can also register as an individual and MIISC will find a team for you.
