Film screenings, trivia nights and a ‘love your library’ craft workshop are just some of the activities the whole family can get involved in during Library and Information Week (22 July-2 August).
City of Canterbury Bankstown is celebrating the important role that libraries play in our community with a program of fun and engaging activities at its nine Library and Knowledge Centres.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said libraries are not only a quiet space for reading, they also play an important role in bringing the community together.
“Our libraries are community hubs which offer a huge range of resources and services,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“We offer story times for children in multiple languages, help for school students with their homework, technology support for all ages, conversation groups for non-English speakers and so much more.
“And for those who can’t get to the library themselves, our friendly staff will bring resources to you with our home library service.
“If you’re not already, Library and Information Week is a fantastic time to get involved in your local library and learn about what services we can offer you.”
