Local youth are encouraged to unleash their inner creativity with City of Canterbury Bankstown's Create and Sip program.
Local youth are being encouraged to unleash their inner creatives and brush up on different cultures with City of Canterbury Bankstown’s Create and Sip program.
The intergenerational art and craft program is back at Belmore Youth Resource Centre for terms one and two and is open to those aged 12-18 years and their parents, carers and grandparents.
Creativity won’t be the only juices flowing, as attendees indulge in a two-course cultural feast and sip on (non-alcoholic) drinks.
They’ll also hear from a local guest speaker who will sketch out the history, culture and traditions from around the world, before creating their very own masterpiece.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said the program aims to build intergenerational relationships and encourage cross-cultural understanding.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for local youth to learn about different cultures and have fun, while creating a masterpiece,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“I encourage all young people to come along, enjoy a great feed and unleash your inner Picasso!”
The first session will be held this Thursday (7 March), where participants can indulge in a First Nations feast and learn to create an Indigenous dot painting in the first Create and Sip session of the year.
Tickets cost $25 and include a young person and their family member (over 20 years old).
