Safer driver workshop

The NSW Safer Drivers Course teaches learner drivers aged under 25 to develop safe driving skills and prepare for driving solo.

Wednesday 14 October 2026, 9am-5pm

This course can help you understand speed management, gap selection, hazard awareness, safe following distances and how to keep driving safely when you get distracted.

To attend a course, you need to:

  • Hold a valid NSW learner licence
  • Be aged under 25
  • Have completed at least 50 log book hours of on-road driving (excluding any 3 for 1 bonus hours), and
  • Have included night driving in some of those hours

Bonus hours

If you complete the NSW Safer Drivers Course, you will earn 20 bonus hours of log book credit. The course has been designed for a learner to attend once, so the 20 bonus hours will only count towards your log book once.

You would then need to finish 100 hours of supervised driving outside the course. If you also have 10 structured lessons with a licensed driving instructor, you'll only need to do 70 hours of supervised driving - because these lessons also earn you bonus hours.
