Twilight Sports

Twilight Sports is a  non-competitive indoor sports program aimed at encouraging social inclusion and participation for young people aged 12-18 in a fun way. The program is designed to engage young people in our community through sport in a safe, supervised environment and benefits them by:

  • Providing positive role models
  • Giving access to local youth and support services
  • Offering opportunities to participate in a variety of physical team sports
  • Promoting safe activities out of school hours
  • Building self-esteem and resilience in young people.

Term dates

  • Term 2: Fridays,  12 May-23 June, Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre, Riverwood - Soccer
  • Term 3: Saturdays, 5 August-16 September, Bankstown Basketball Stadium, Condell Park - Tagball (an adapted indoor version of Oz Tag)
  • Term 4: Fridays, 20 October-1 December, Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre, Riverwood - Volleyball
  • Time: 7-10.30pm
  • Cost: $20 per person or $30 per family (refundable with 100% attendance or if you refer a new friend - email twilightsports@cbcity.nsw.gov.au if you require assistance with payment)

The Twilight Sports program includes dinner, uniforms and  transport from two local train stations to the venue then home at the end of the night if you live within the LGA. It is also a safe place where young people are encouraged to participate in life skills workshops in order to become more physically, socially and mentally healthy.

Both players and volunteers are encouraged to:

  • Enjoy the spirit of the game and not focus on winning
  • Use the games to build both playing skills and interpersonal relationships
  • Give all players an opportunity, regardless of skills and experience.
The program also offers volunteering opportunities and training for other members of the community  – please scroll down for more information on this.

Volunteering - Get involved

The program couldn't run without the generosity and support of our wonderful community and we are always looking for new volunteers who want to give back to their local community.

Volunteering positions available - experience welcome, but not required:

  • Team manager/assistant (experience not needed);
  • General assistant (checking in players and volunteers on arrival and uniform allocation);
  • Bus driver;
  • Bus assistant (navigator); and
  • Bus logistics (scheduling the bus run for players catching the bus home).

A big thank you from the participants to all volunteers who attend week after week, wash shirts & tablecloths and drive buses, Twilight Sports couldn't run successfully without your encouragement, input & support.
