Memorials Policy

The Memorials Policy provides guidance for the establishment, maintenance, removal and relocation of memorial objects such as monuments and plaques, and the scattering of ashes on land under the care and control of Council.

Council has expanded the policy to include tree planting with respect to appropriateness, public open space location and tree species choice. Memorial trees are intended to commemorate those who have upheld the values of the community and of Council.

This Policy demonstrates Council's commitment to:

  • understanding residents grieving and;
  • recognising the importance of the commemoration of the deceased.

The Policy is aligned to the Safe and Strong destination of the Community Strategic Plan CBCity 2036.
