Some of Western Sydney’s emerging young talent will be on show at Bankstown Arts Centre this weekend.
The line up of talent will perform as part of Canterbury-Bankstown’s Winter Weekends Gig in the Garden and Acoustic Sessions.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said it’s the perfect excuse to head into the city and see all the great entertainment.
“If you need a reason to get your family or friends together, then here it is!”
The weekend highlights kick off at the Arts Centre this Saturday 27 August with the acoustic sounds in the forecourt, and showcasing the best from the west:
- Dovy Dovy;
- Van & David;
- Yasi.T;
- Pheolix;
- MC Comp/Prizes; and
- 15 stars Cook Island Dance Group.
And on Sunday 28 August, treat yourself to the wonderful sounds of Lolo Lavina as they perform in their caravan stage in front of the gentle garden slopes of Bankstown Gardens.
Lolo Lavina is a collection of musicians, created and fronted by Romani singer Sarah Bedak. Their music is a fusion of Unza, Swing and Balkan beats, which reflects the identity of an artist who grew up with three native cultures.
Mayor Asfour said after the wet and miserable winter, it’s a chance to enjoy some groovy, uplifting music outdoors.
“We’ve all suffered the Winter blues, now it’s time to get out and enjoy the sunshine and enjoy listening to some emerging young hopefuls.”
“We’re so pleased we can bring this fantastic line-up of entertainment to the community and we hope others travel to our great City to experience it with us.”
Parents will be able to keep the kids entertained with the free face painting and circus performers. They will also have the chance to WIN one of 100 free coffees and 20 wood fired pizzas.
Our Winter Weekends program also features Light Up Bankstown and the Chalk Walk optical illusions, events jointly funded by the NSW Government.
