Lakemba Nights during Ramadan is back this year with a twist!

For the first time in the events history, visitors will have the chance to sink their teeth into juicy birria tacos or be tantalized by a Spanish succulent seafood paella.

City of Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said this year’s event will be like no other and is encouraging everyone to visit.

“This year, Lakemba Nights during Ramadan is offering a wide range of options we have never seen before,” he said.

“Visitors must stop by to try out the all-new chocolate covered watermelon slices, fresh cheesecakes, warm tacos, and seafood paella,

“Stalls will also be set up down the middle of Haldon Street, Lakemba this year for the first time for visitors to maximise their explorations.”

Que Pasa Tacos stallholder Bruno Teixeira said his team is excited to showcase their popular slow cooked brisket birria tacos for the month-long festival.

“We’re expecting it to be very busy, as it has been when we came as visitors in previous years,” Bruno said.

“We’ve always wanted to be part of the event. This is our local area, and we want to share our food with our community.

“We have trained more staff, put extra food orders in and are doing everything we can to make sure we keep the wait time down and people satisfied with our authentic Mexican food.”

From traditional favourites to the dishes that are taking over, this year’s event promises to serve up some of the most talked-about dishes in Western Sydney.

Simon Sevilla from La Gitana Paella said this is the first year his stall and his star dish will feature at Lakemba Nights during Ramadan, and he is excited to share his culture at such a largescale event.

“This is the first time Lakemba Nights during Ramadan will offer seafood paella,” Simon said.

“There are many people around the world who don’t know what paella is, it is a great opportunity to share our produce and Spanish culture to everyone at this big event.

“We love to serve people and share our experiences. I encourage everyone to visit our stall and try something different this year, you won’t find a fresher paella anywhere else!”

For those looking for tradition with a twist, La Gitana Paella will also be serving halal chicken paella and vegan paella options.

Visitors are encouraged to use public transport to travel to and from the event.

A free shuttle bus service to Lakemba Nights during Ramadan, brought to you by Western Union, will be available each night to provide safe and accessible transport to and from the event.
