Greenacre Splash Park has been officially opened by Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Asfour, who has praised the family-friendly facility as being yet another reason to visit Greenacre.
“I’m so happy to open the Greenacre Splash Park, which is an action-packed fun day out for the family, with plenty of water features for everyone to enjoy, along with a playground with slides, swings and climbing equipment. I’m so proud of this state-of-the-art facility which will entertain kids for hours!” Mayor Asfour said.
“Also bound to be a hit with families are the BBQs, kiosk and change facilities – all within a picturesque open space with family shelters. Come along and join in on the fun!”
Fun Fact: The Greenacre Splash Park is based on the indigenous story of Tiddalik the Frog. Tiddalik, the largest frog ever known, awoke one morning with a huge thirst. He started to drink – and he drank until there was no fresh water in the world. Soon, creatures were dying and trees wilting because of the lack of moisture.
At the Greenacre Splash Park, the main buckets fill up as though they are Tiddalik; the water is then dumped onto the splash pad to run throughout the water park. This activity is to symbolise the ending of the story when Tiddalik laughed, and water returned to all the world once more.
