TikTok star and much loved Spudhole founder Mahmoud Ismail is gearing up to launch his newest creation at Bankstown Bites food festival.
The Yagoona local’s latest offering, Saucyhole, which is a collection of homemade sauces, will be on the menu at Bankstown Bites on Saturday 26 July and a special preview to the event on Friday 25 July, from 5.30-9.30pm at Bankstown Arts Centre and surrounds.
Joining Mahmoud at the launch will be some of Sydney’s top viral food creators including Smoking Gringos, Dough Sisters and Teelish Brownies, and entertainment provided by a Red Bull DJ.
There are also mouth-watering treats on offer like Dragon’s Breath, a frozen dessert dipped in liquid nitrogen, and Lazy Cake which make for great TikTok moments.
The unveiling of Mahmoud’s new product at Bankstown Bites comes after he spent months trialling and taste tasting.
“We have seen the boom of Raising Cane’s sauce in Australia and all the dupes but I always wondered why we stop at one sauce? Saucyhole is about the experience of many sauces with fried chicken,” Mahmoud teased.
“Bankstown Bites is where I launched Spudhole and given that I was born in Bankstown Hospital and grew up in the heart of the area I wouldn't wanna launch Saucy anywhere else. Back to the roots.”
City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said the Bankstown Bites festival is more than just a food-festival.
“Our festivals are where ideas and business are born and I can’t wait to see the amazing and tasty new ventures our locals have to offer,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“This year, Bankstown Bites is bigger and better than ever before – and with more than 50 stalls for people to explore, there’s something here for everyone.”
After the preview event, the main Bankstown Bites festival will return for its 20th anniversary year with its biggest line-up yet on Saturday 26 July from 10am-4pm at Olympic Parade and Griffith Park.
With more than 50 stallholders to keep every member of the family entertained, everyone will enjoy the experience of cooking demonstrations, dance and music performances, as well as celebrity chef meet and greets, interactive art and food tours.
