Nominations are now open for Canterbury-Bankstown’s 2023 Children and Youth Awards.

The annual awards, run by the City of Canterbury Bankstown, aim to celebrate the remarkable achievements and significant impact that local children and young people have on shaping the present and future of our vibrant City.

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said the awards provided an opportunity for people to celebrate the accomplishments of children and young people who are making an outstanding contribution to their local communities.

“Through the Children and Youth Awards, we shine a bright spotlight on the incredible potential and achievements of our young community members, inspiring us all with their dedication to community growth and positive change,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

“I encourage you to nominate an inspiring young person… because your recognition will only just fuel their passion to continue to make a difference in the future.”
The awards are open to children in years 3-6 and young people in years 7-12 who live, study or work in Canterbury-Bankstown.

Children can be nominated, or nominate themselves, in three categories:

  • Leadership;
  • Inspiration; and
  • Contribution.

Young people can be nominated, or nominate themselves, in six categories:

  • Academic achievement;
  • Community involvement;
  • Creative and performing arts;
  • Inspiration;
  • Leadership; and
  • Sporting.

Nominations close Sunday 24 September, with finalists to be announced on Wednesday 11 October and a ceremony will be held on Wednesday 25 October.
