Bankstown will come alive and be transformed into a designer’s dream in the final evening of Council’s Art Nights: Culture Alive program.
Creatives can indulge in a series of exhibitions, workshops and screenings by Western-Sydney based designers at Bankstown Arts Centre’s Design Alive evening from 5pm on Friday 1 March.
The evening will see the preview of Urban Theatre Projects exhibition Body Place, by April Phillips, where audiences can take a virtual walk on Country with an illuminated 14-metre screen.
Visitors can also bring the family along for a free movie screening of Paper Planes at Paul Keating Park, hit the dance floor for a silent disco DJ battle, or chill out and enjoy live music by Beat Kitchen Records at Bankstown Arts Centre.
Design Alive will give a taster into the expansive field of design and is all about showcasing ‘design beyond spatial experience’ – the idea that design is present in all areas of life from art to architecture, fashion and landscape.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said the Culture Alive program has been a huge hit and a wonderful showcase of Bankstown’s thriving arts and cultural scene.
“It has been fantastic to see Bankstown bustling over our three-night program, with visitors travelling from outside the City to see what Western Sydney has to offer,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the final night of our arts and cultural extravaganza!”
