If you’re keen to beat the summer heat and make a splash on Australia Day, the best place to be is at CBCity’s pool parties! It’s always a popular event in Canterbury-Bankstown and we have plenty of Aussie-themed fun for people of all ages!
Here’s a taste of what to expect: jumping castle and rides, a slip ‘n slide inflatable, zinc body art and the “Slip Slop Slap Stick” Kids Show. There’ll also be a DJ and the “Bubble Man” will be paying a visit too! You’ll even get a chance to get creative and show off your artistic abilities with the Australiana craft activities.
Another highlight is the popular First Nations dance group “Diramu Aboriginal Dance and Digeridoo.” Entry is just $2 and not only will you receive a complimentary ice block–there’s also a FREE sausage sizzle between 11am-2pm.The activities run from 10am-4pm at Birrong, Max Parker, Roselands and Canterbury Leisure and Aquatic Centres.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said Australia Day has a different meaning to all the cultures living in our diverse City. “Our City is home to such a wonderful mixture of different cultures, with their own unique customs and religions, as well as a huge variety of languages,” Mayor Asfour said.
“Whether you’re a new arrival or you were born here, we should all feel incredibly lucky to call Australia home. What better way to celebrate than to stay local and attend one of our pool parties with family and friends.”
We’ll be welcoming new Aussies and announcing the Australia Day award recipients on the eve of Australia day, January 25, with a citizenship ceremony at the Bryan Brown theatre, Bankstown.
