Mahalia Barnes has been singing for as long as she can remember.

Mahalia Barnes has been singing for as long as she can remember. Born into Aussie rock royalty, the daughter of legendary singer Jimmy Barnes is well-known as one of our most talented live acts.

Next week, Mahalia will be our special guest, shining in the spotlight as she sings at the CBCity Christmas Carols extravaganza!

“I’m thrilled to be singing in Canterbury-Bankstown this year. It’s a wonderful community event, great for families and a perfect way to get into the Christmas and holiday spirit!” Mahalia says.

You’re in for a magical evening of singing, food, fun and festivity. We’re excited to celebrate Christmas with you so bring your picnic blanket, family and friends to Wiley Park on Sunday 4 December.

“Christmas is my favourite time of the year. In our family it’s a chance to get the whole tribe together (there’s a lot of us!). A chance to celebrate and to cook and share,” Mahalia says.

“We have a bunch of traditions at Christmas time, and one I really love is that we have to make some of our gifts, which makes it really special - you have to really put thought and effort in and be creative… those gifts usually are more special than a store-bought gift.”

Mahalia feels blessed to have always had music in her life and, over the years, to share the stage with her dad and other family members.

“I’ve been recording and singing on stage since I was seven and I can always remember being surrounded by music and loving to sing! I’m very fortunate to be a part of a wonderfully supportive and loving family. I feel pretty lucky,” Mahalia says.

You’ll also be entertained by local singing star Theoni Marks (from “The Voice”), several of our amazing TAP performers, the Salvation Army band, Kiki & Pascal Christmas Magic Show and much more!

There’ll be a fantastic range of food, magical characters and the kids will be able get up-close to Santa and his sleigh! The night will end with a “bang” – there’ll be a fantastic display of fireworks.

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour says he’s also looking forward to Christmas Carols at Wiley Park.

“Christmas is always a magical time in our City! Everyone is welcome to join in the festivities and I hope we all take time to be thankful for all the good things in our lives,” Mayor Asfour says.

“Make sure you come along to our free event, as we’ve lined up some fabulous entertainment. There’ll be plenty of activities for the kids and great food for all to enjoy!”

For Mahalia, Christmas is a time to think about the blessings in her life and recognise all the things she’s grateful for.

She’s also excited about everything she has planned in 2023.

“I have a heap of exciting shows coming up in the new year, and hopefully a new album that we are getting ready to record!”

“I’m grateful for so much. For my family and friends, for the opportunity to perform regularly, for delicious food, for this beautiful country. I hope everyone can have a wonderful Christmas with loved ones, and a safe and happy holiday period.”

This is a FREE event for all ages. See you on 4 December at the Wiley Park Amphitheatre from 6pm!
