Nepalese street food, traditional Island “cook ups”, juicy Greek souvlaki and sweet treats from Macau are just some of the international cuisines you can indulge in when Bankstown Bites returns next month.

And if you prefer to get your hands dirty in the kitchen, learn how to make banoffee pie, cinnamon chilli chocolate brownies and a cheese charcuterie baguette at the food festival on Saturday 27 July.

A feature at this year’s festival will be our all-new Celebrity Chef Masterclasses, which will be run by renowned pastry chef Anna Polyviou and her mum, Eugina, who will be teaching participants how to make spanakopita, keftedes and loukoumades.

Attendees can also learn the secrets behind the perfect backyard barbeque with demonstrations by the Barbeque Cooking School. And if you prefer a touch of Italian, you can try your hand at making fresh pasta, bruschetta and tiramisu in an Italian cooking workshop with Humanity Matters.

The famous food tours, brought to you by Time Out Sydney, will be returning this year to escort groups around Bankstown and sample the best restaurants in town. For those who just can’t wait for the event, Bites Food Tours will also sample the best of Panania on Thursday 11 July and Earlwood on Thursday 18 July.

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said Bankstown Bites has been a significant event on food lovers’ calendars for many years.

“We’re running this festival for the 18th year, showcasing just how incredible the food scene is here in our City,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

“It’s no secret that our City is a melting pot of international cuisine and Bankstown Bites promises to be an explosion of unique food and culture.”

A ‘Bites Backyard, brought to you by Bankstown Sports, will offer free barefoot bowls and garden games for the whole family, while the little ones can get involved in a number of free activities in the ‘Bites Corner’ including a kid’s kitchen workshop and face painting.

There will also be a jam-packed program of on-stage entertainment featuring the Bankstown Talent Advancement program, phat brass and around the world dance group.

Bankstown Bites will be held on Saturday 27 July at Olympic Parade and Griffith Park.

The famous Bankstown Bites food festival will be held on Saturday 27 July, from 10am-4pm.

Taste the world with us at this exciting multicultural event. This tantalising food festival has it all, from cooking demos, live music and entertainment to food tours, FREE kids activities and more than 30 mouth-watering food stalls to indulge in.

Join renowned pastry chef Anna Polyviou and her mum, Euigina Polyviou, as they cook up a storm on the main stage and get your hands dirty in a Celebrity Chef Masterclass.

How to get there

The event will be held on Olympic Parade, Bankstown. Limited on-street and off-street parking is available within walking distance.

Public transport is recommended. The closest railway is Bankstown Station (450 metres).
