Discover Western Sydney in a new light at Bankstown Arts Centre’s latest exhibition, Geometries of Suburbia.

Presenting a series of sculptures and paintings by local artists Phong Le and Glenn Locklee, this exhibition is inspired by the suburban scenery of Canterbury-Bankstown and Western Sydney.

While the two artists are distinct in style, both share a common enthusiasm for upcycling objects they’ve found in the streets of Canterbury-Bankstown and beyond.

Items including cardboard, cement sheet fragments, scrap metals and plywood make up the two bodies of work, which offer fresh perspectives on everyday surroundings.

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said you won’t want to miss this captivating art exhibition exploring our diverse and rich suburban landscapes.

“Geometries of Suburbia will take you on an intriguing journey through the familiar yet often overlooked aspects of Western Sydney,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

“Phong and Glenn are to be commended for their efforts in bringing a new artistic light to Western Sydney suburbs.”

Geometries of Suburbia will be exhibited at Bankstown Arts Centre until Friday 22 December.

On Saturday 9 December, meet the masterminds behind the exhibition at Bankstown Arts Centre’s exclusive artist’s in conversation event.

During the event, Le and Locklee will speak on their practice in upcycling found objects, interpreting suburban landscapes through sculpture and painting and the importance of photography as part of their creative process.
