The Essentials

Council’s salary structure has been designed by industry experts and offers competitive salary ranges. We recruit using our skill steps (1-3), which are designed to reward the acquisition and use of skill - so the more you learn and apply it on the job, the greater opportunity you will have to progress. Steps 4 and 5 are for those willing to go the extra mile in demonstrating exceptional performance​.​

Rates - automatic pay deductions (Heading 3) - If you are a Canterbury-Bankstown resident you can have your rates automatically deducted from your pay to save you bank fees, time and inconvenience.​​

Free financial planning advice (Heading 3) - Group and individual information sessions are available for all Local Government Superannuation members.

Free Library and Knowledge Centres membership - Join our Library and Knowledge Centres for FREE, even if you are not a resident of the Canterbury-Bankstown area. There are nine Library and Knowledge Centres located in Canterbury-Bankstown, at Bankstown, Campsie, Chester Hill,  Earlwood, Greenacre, Lakemba, Padstow, Panania and Riverwood.

Uniforms
For customer facing employees and some operational roles, uniforms are provided or partially funded.

Salary sacrifice (Heading 3) - The option to reduce your taxable income by salary sacrificing additional super.

Annual Leave - Employees receive four weeks paid annual leave per year, with pro-rata available for part-time employment.

Sick & Carer’s - Employees receive 15 days paid sick leave per year, with pro-rata available for part-time employment. 10 of these days can be used as Carer's Leave to care for family members and relatives.

Long service leave - This is available after five years of service in the local government industry.

Transferred leave entitlements - If you are currently working with another local council in NSW you can transfer your long service leave and up to 13 weeks of your accumulated sick leave entitlements with you, subject to eligibility requirements.

Parental leave – Available to all employees with 12 months service (excluding casuals).

Health and Wellbeing Leave - Employees receive two days paid health and wellbeing leave per year, which is taken from your sick leave entitlement.

Fitness Passport - CBCity is an approved provider of Fitness Passport which gives employees and their families affordable access to more than 1600 diverse fitness facilities, gyms and pools across Australia.

Health and wellbeing program - Council has an extensive wellness program which helps enhance overall wellbeing. This includes access to Council-funded fitness challenges, health checks, lunch time fitness sessions, mental health training, access to a digital health and wellbeing platform, and more. At Council, we acknowledge the interconnection between physical, social and emotional/mental health and our programs are designed to support the holistic wellbeing of our employees.

Free flu shot - Employees have access to a Council-funded flu shot each year.

Social club - Join the Social Club and enjoy fun group activities, a fantastic Christmas party, discount show and movie tickets as well as holiday packages. Membership can be automatically deducted from your pay.

Employee Assistance Program - Employees and their immediate family have access to six FREE sessions with a professional and confidential counselling service to assist in dealing with issues of either a personal or work-related nature.
