Welcome to Community Services, where our mission is to support and enrich the lives of community members through a diverse range of programs, facilities, and services.
Waste and Cleansing plays a key role in promoting public health and environmental cleanliness by managing waste collection, maintaining parks and public spaces, removing graffiti, and conducting street sweeping services.
The Community and Cultural Services Unit delivers essential programs like Meals on Wheels, operates 9 local libraries, and supports a wide range of community activities, catering to the needs of seniors and youth, through venues like the Bankstown Arts Centre.
Our Children’s Services Unit supports families with quality Child Care and Education Services and Out of School Hours Care.
Leisure and Aquatic Services promote health and well-being, including access to swimming pools, fitness programs, golf, and Learn to Swim classes.
Our Recreation and Customer Experience Unit manages customer enquiries through our call centres and contact points, as well as bookings for community venues, sports fields, parks, and cultural facilities.
Community Services delivers a broad range of programs and services, including:
- Offering sport and recreation opportunities through 4 Leisure and Aquatic Centres, Sefton Golf Course, Indoor Sports Centre, and the Youth and Resource Centre
- Operating 9 Library Branches, providing services such as language classes, online resources, local history, homework help, and networking opportunities
- Managing community venues and halls for public events and gatherings
- Coordinating parks and sports field bookings
- Operating cultural venues like the Bryan Brown Theatre, Community Rooms, and the Bankstown Arts Centre
- Maintaining cleanliness of more than 150 Council-owned assets, including town centres and residential areas
- Providing a kerbside clean-up service for household waste
- Collecting over 200,000 residential bins weekly
- Providing quality Child Care and Education Services and Out of School Hours Care
- Responding to approximately 900 customer service calls per day, assisting residents with a wide range of inquiries
