Our Asset systems and Planning Team turn community needs into plans while our Asset Design and Construction Teams bring those plans to life through innovative infrastructure projects. Once built, our infrastructure Services team, Roads Operations, Fleet, Open Space and Building Operations teams ensure these assets remain safe and functional for everyday use.
Through careful planning, expert delivery, and ongoing support, City Assets ensures that the city’s infrastructure and facilities continue to enhance the daily lives of our residents, creating a city that is well-connected, resilient, and full of opportunity.
City Assets are responsible for the planning, development, delivery and maintenance of the City's infrastructure and public facilities. This requires a broad range of skills and resources across the department to deliver our services which in turn provides varied experiences and opportunities to grow and develop.
Our $4.4b Asset Portfolio is divided into 4 main categories:
- Roads which include over 900km of paved roads; 103 bridges; 1800km of kerbs and guttering, 1200km of footpaths, 5200 traffic management devices and over 41000 signs
- Buildings and Other structures which include 98 community facilities; 4 leisure and aquatic centres, 9 libraries, 6 multistorey carparks, 218 park buildings and facilities plus 40 other major structures just to name a few.
- Stormwater and drainage which include 24900 drainage devices, 680km of drainage conduits, 205 water quality devices and 2 flood levies.
- Open Space and Recreation which include 624 parks and sports fields; 2 golf courses, 167 irrigation units; 1682 light poles (in parks and sportsfields), 250+ playground, and much more.
