​Winter days may be cool, but fun is never in short supply with City of Canterbury Bankstown’s huge range of free or low-cost school holiday activities.

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said Council knows how important school holiday activities are for local families.

“Increased living costs are hurting many families, but that doesn’t stop kids from wanting to have fun,” Mayor Asfour said.

“Most of our winter school holiday activities are free, and others are very low cost. And we’ve made sure we have a broad range of activities, to include something for every kid.”

With the first week of the school holidays coinciding with NAIDOC week, the activities kick off with NAIDOC Family Day on Saturday 2 July at Bankstown Arts Centre. There are also multiple indigenous-themed activities, including a traditional games session at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre and themed crafts and a First Nations culture-sharing presentation at the library. 

Other highlights include: a tween disco, Oz Tag, soccer, basketball, an open day at Belmore Youth Resource Centre, a Liquid Nitrogen science show and Bankstown Arts Centre workshops, including monoprinting Wishing Tree flags and the chance to make your dreams into art with ‘Frame Your Dream’. 

Other school holiday activities offered include: 

•Bowling and Laser Tag;

•Mini Golf;

•Sports and games;

•Cycling;

•Ninja Playground trip;

•Programming robots;

•Arts and crafts sessions;

•Little Bang Science Club;

•Dungeons and Dragons;

•Bingo and other games

•Movies at our libraries; and

•Recycling workshop.
