Library Summer Reading Club – The Summer Reading Club is for young readers of all ages. Collect and complete your Reading Log bookmark, or print one from home. The Activity Book features games and craft ideas. Prizes are available for the three Summer Reading Club Categories (Share A Book, Kids’ Reading Club and Teens Club). Simply mark off your Reading Log bookmark each time you read for 15 or 20 minutes to get a lucky dip prize and automatic entry into the final major prize, to be drawn at the end of the Summer Reading Club.

Library scavenger hunt – Walk about and check it out! Grab your ‘passport’ from your local library to take on the challenge of digging deep to investigate clues for solution to a quiz. Children's Centres

Our Vacation Care program offers plenty of choice for parents and is an inexpensive way to keep their children active during the break. We host an action-packed program of activities at our Children's Centres, for children aged between five and 12 years. Some of the activities which take place include:

  • Planetarium;
  • SkyPeak;
  • Foosball;
  • Mini Olympics;
  • Bollywood;
  • Sports; and 
  • Art workshops.

Parents are advised to pack the following for their children to bring with them:

  • Nutritious lunch and drink;
  • Hat, sunscreen; and 
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes.

This program is for children, so getting dirty is part of having fun!

Other activities

Canterbury-Bankstown is always hosting fun events for young people! These include dance parties, camps and mini Olympics activities. Other activities are recreational in nature with fantastic health benefits, like Zumba.

We also often host educational sessions over the summer holidays; ranging from safer driving classes, swimming lessons, classes for parents, and trips to museums or gardening. You can learn a life skill or simply meet new people.
