Council holds two FREE electrical waste recycling drop-off events each year for residents of Canterbury-Bankstown

Electrical items contain precious resources that can be recycled into new products when taken to a drop-off event or collection point. This also ensures that hazardous materials in the electrical items are disposed of correctly. E-waste is not accepted in your household yellow-lidded recycling bin.
 
Council holds two FREE electrical waste recycling drop-off events per year for residents of Canterbury-Bankstown.

Electrical items accepted:
  • TVs
  • Video recorders & DVD players
  • Monitors, desktops & laptops
  • Computer peripherals (keyboard, mice, joysticks)
  • Printers, scanners, faxes, photocopiers
  • Speakers & sound equipment
  • Projectors
  • Electric games
  • CD’s, DVD’s, tapes
  • Cameras
  • Phones (mobile and landline)
  • Small household appliances (fans, alarm clocks, vacuum cleaners)
  • Kitchen appliances (microwaves, kettles)
  • Consoles
  • Modems
  • Hand Tools
  • Set Top boxes
  • Cables, adapters and cable chargers
     
If your electrical items are still in working order, consider selling, donating or trading in to give your items a new life. You can also consider repairing your item, if possible.
Where else can I take my e-waste?
There are alternate local drop off points available throughout the year including Officeworks stores near you. Other councils with a Community Recycling Centre (CRC) may accept out of area e-waste drop-offs. For CRC locations, visit the NSW EPA website.
Televisions, computers, printers as well as computer parts and peripherals are recycled for free under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS), funded by the Australian government. This service is provided to households and small businesses by approved organisations. Read more about how to access this scheme and where to find approved collectors.

Past event statistics
In 2023, Canterbury-Bankstown residents recycled over 31 tonnes of electrical waste. There were over 860 attendees across our two drop-off events that safely brought their e-waste for recovery. Over 97% of collected material was recycled into new products.
