Canterbury-Bankstown Animal Shelter, located at Rossmore Veterinary Hospital, is an independent specialist facility contracted by Council, to receive dogs and cats found straying, or have been seized in our City. It seeks new homes for animals that cannot be returned to their owners.
Dogs and cats may also be surrendered to the shelter but only under specific circumstances, and by prior arrangement.

Prior to rehoming, dogs and cats are desexed, lifetime registered, vaccinated and microchipped. They also leave the shelter with a collar and tag. The shelter has a wide range of dogs and cats for sale and all are temperament tested.
The shelter operates under a 'low euthanise' practice. This means only dogs or cats assessed to be either a danger or having an illness that would affect their quality of life are euthanised.
