Twilight Sports
Twilight Sports is a FREE non-competitive sports program aimed at encouraging social inclusion and participation for young people aged 12-17 in a fun way.
- Term 1 Oztag Fridays, 27 February-27 March
- Term 2 Mixed Netball Fridays, 8 May-19 June
- Term 3 Basketball Saturdays, 1 August-12 September
- Term 4 Volleyball Fridays, 23 October-4 December
Twilight Sports is designed to engage young people in our community through sport in a safe, supervised environment and benefits them by:
- Providing positive role models
- Giving access to local youth and support services
- Offering opportunities to participate in a variety of physical team sports
- Promoting safe activities out of school hours
- Building self-esteem and resilience in young people.
The Twilight Sports program includes dinner, uniforms and transport from Belmore Youth Resource Centre and Paul Keating Park Bankstown to the venue then home at the end of the night if you live within the LGA. It is also a safe place where young people are encouraged to participate in life skills workshops in order to become more physically, socially and mentally healthy.
Both players and volunteers are encouraged to:
- Enjoy the spirit of the game and not focus on winning
- Use the games to build both playing skills and interpersonal relationships
- Give all players an opportunity, regardless of skills and experience.
Registrations open a month prior to the start of each tournament. For more information email twilightsports@cbcity.nsw.gov.au or ring 9707 9092.
The program also offers volunteering opportunities and training for other members of the community – please scroll down for more information on this.
