National Youth Week

National Youth Week is an annual event celebrating young people across Australia. Youth Wee​k in NSW aims to acknowledge and celebrate the positive contributions made by young people in our community.

Youth Week 2019

Youth Week falls between 10-18 April in 2019 and Council is already working with young people and youth services across our City to plan a week filled with entertainment, sports, music and most of all fun! 

The Youth Week theme for 2019 is Coming together to Connect, Share, Speak out, and Celebrate. We will celebrate it here in Canterbury-​Bankstown by inviting our youth to take part in a range of different activities and events.

Enjoy an afternoon filled with live entertainment, food, rides and activities, including dodgem cars and a silent disco.

Free Movie Night

Enjoy activities to relax the mind and body as well as our FREE movie night. Food, drinks and popcorn available for purchase. Activities include nutrition stalls, Oz tag, drumming, free photo booth and more.

Save, Safe and Sustainable Earth

Lakemba Library and Knowledge Centre

An evening of performances and presentations on renewable energy. Youth will also receive a wind turbine kit to assemble to see the production of energy as an example.

Youth Week Competitions 2019

This year we're holding a number of competitions for young people to get involved in and have the opportunity to win awesome prizes. 

  • Amazing Race: Compete in teams of four to complete challenges across our City on Wednesday 17 April. All participants will receive free entry to a Bulldogs game of their choice, paid transport for the day,  a free Youth Week T-shirt, and free BBQ. This event is for young people aged 15-24 years only. Register online as an individual or team.
  • 3x3 Basketball Competition: Play ball? If so, enter online here for our 3x3 basketball comp on Thursday 18 April at Morris Iemma Sports Centre, Riverwood. Players can enter as a team or individual in our 12-15 years, or 16-18 years age categories.  Prizes for the winning teams.

If you want to volunteer throughout Youth Week 2019 for a chance to meet new people and gain new skills, sign up here to view our different volunteer positions. Volunteer positions are for young people aged 12-24 years, and all volunteers will receive access to a volunteer induction and free T-Shirt.
