It’s time to get excited about new parks across the City! Parry Park in Lakemba is now officially open and there are two more due for completion soon!
The Parry Park Playspace is a spectacular new playground, with all the bells and whistles to keep the kids happy.
You’ll find swings, a climbing tower, bike paths, a water-sand play area as well as a new amenity building with barbecues and a picnic area.
Parry Park has been officially opened by Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour, who was thrilled to see kids of all ages enjoying the new play equipment and bike paths.
The day began with a traditional “smoking ceremony” before the unveiling of a special plaque. There was music and entertainment while the kids played, and the adults were all pleased to see the welcoming coffee van.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my family to Parry Park, firing up the barbeque and watching the kids use the fantastic new play equipment…I might even have a go myself,” Mayor Asfour says.
“The project cost a little over $3 million, but it was what the community wanted, and we know it was money well spent. I know the local community will really treasure this beautiful space for many years.”
Parry Park is proudly funded by the NSW Government in conjunction with the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
Earlwood oval
In a huge win for our sporting community, work has just commenced on the new look Earlwood Oval. Footy and cricket players and the wider community are going to love the oval once work is completed.
There’ll be a new playing surface, practice wickets, a playground and half a basketball court. The project will also include a new irrigation system and drainage.
The Earlwood Oval project is expected to be ready for everyone to use by early next year.
Hurlstone Park
Council has also started work on an exciting new community space, at Hurlstone Memorial Reserve.
It’s something the local community has been crying out for and it won’t be long before they’ll be able to use their brand-new facility.
The community space will include a multi-purpose meeting room, a covered outdoor breakout space, toilet facilities and a kitchenette. It will be absolutely perfect for local community group gatherings.
