City of Canterbury Bankstown has undertaken more than $3.5 million worth of road projects in the past month as part of its plans to upgrade local roads.

The major program, which included asphalt resurfacing, kerb and gutter improvements, drainage works and broken footpath replacements, has provided smoother surfaces to more than 3.2 kilometres of roads across the City.

Inspecting several of the projects, Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said the upgrades are part of a rolling works program.

“Recent wet weather has damaged our roads and Council is committed to not only maintaining, but improving our road network,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

“Residents are clear about their desire for a smoother ride and these upgrades are planned to meet their expectations.

“Whether you are driving, walking, or cycling, or catching public transport we want everyone to have a smooth commute through our City.”

Works completed in June 2024 include:

  • Loch Street, Campsie, from Anglo Road to Evaline Street;
  • Northcote Road, Greenacre, from Hillcrest Avenue to Noble Avenue;
  • Leicester Street, Chester Hill, from Bent Street to Priam Street;
  • Eldridge Road, Condell Park, Edgar Street to Simmat Avenue;
  • Watson Road, Padstow, from Davies Road to Enterprise Avenue;
