It all started in Bankstown for Paulini Curuenavuli.

The well-known performer and Australian Idol star fondly recalls growing up in Bankstown and attributes her singing success to her involvement in Council’s Talent Advancement Program (TAP).

“I’m not sure I would have had the confidence to walk in to that very first audition of Australian Idol if it weren’t partly for programs such as this,” Paulini said.

This Saturday, Paulini is returning to her singing roots to feature in Canterbury-Bankstown’s Carols in the Park at Wiley Park.

“I’m looking forward to coming back to Carols in the Park and the joy that this brings along with the community spirit,” Paulini said.

“I also love seeing a large diversity of families coming together with nothing but 100 per cent acceptance.”

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek encouraged the community to come along to the free event on Saturday 2 December and get into the holiday spirit.

“We’ve lined up some fantastic entertainment, plenty of activities for the kids and great food for all the family to enjoy,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

The jam-packed program of onstage entertainment also includes everyone’s favourite Christmas carols performed by The Voice 2022 finalist Thndo, Salsa Kingz, Bankstown City Choir and TAP students.

The little ones will love watching The Beanies colourful performance before making way for the singing Elves Special.

An Auslan interpreter will be present for the on-stage performances, so everyone can enjoy the Christmas cheer.

There will also be a variety of free activities on offer including children’s craft workshops, face painting and roving bouncing elves.

The night will end with a special visit from Santa Claus himself, bought to you by Bankstown Sports, and a fantastic fireworks display.

Paulini said she’s most excited to perform her personal favourites at Carols in the Park including Silent Night, Jingle Bell Rock, Last Christmas, O Holy Night and Oh Come all ye Faithful.

“I can’t wait to see the Canterbury-Bankstown community there!”

All of the fun will kick off at Wiley Park Amphitheatre from 4pm. This event is proudly sponsored by Bankstown Sports and Canterbury-Bankstown Torch.
