We’re after you Messi!

The City of Canterbury-Bankstown is proud to announce we’re screening the exciting Socceroos VS Argentina match this Sunday, 4 December, at 6am at Beaman Park, Earlwood.

The festivities will begin at 5:30am at Beaman Park, in preparation for the 6am kick-off.  Warm up your vocal cords to join in with the singing of the national anthem and then you can “scream from the sidelines” in what’s expected to be another nail-biter.

The local Canterbury District Soccer Association will be cooking a fabulous BBQ breakfast, so bring the family along!

The Socceroos 1-0 win against Denmark has our City in World Cup fever.

“There’s a fantastic mood in Canterbury-Bankstown, everyone is just so excited and proud of the Socceroos!” Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said.

“There’s a real belief in the community in our Aussie team and what they can achieve. They’ve already achieved more than many of us thought they would!”

It’s a great achievement for a team that lost 4-1 in the opening game to France. The win against Denmark means Australia finished second in Group D on six points. This is the teams’ best ever group stage effort in six World Cups.

And now they’ve scored a match with Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

“We’re thrilled to be able to host the live screening as our community is well-and truly the heart of World Cup fandom. We can’t wait to see what our Aussie battlers can do against the mighty Argentinians,” Mayor Khal Asfour said.

CBCity also screened the Socceroos VS Tunisia match last week in Beaman Park, as well as Playford Park in Padstow.
See you on Sunday 4 December, bright and early at Beaman Park!
(Fingers crossed we make it to the next round!)
