City of Canterbury Bankstown is opening its first preschool, which is also the first preschool in Campsie.

Carrington Square Preschool will address the growing demand for affordable early childhood education in the area, says Mayor Khal Asfour.

“With prices of fuel and food escalating we don’t want families to have to choose between their child’s education and basic needs. We’ve opened Carrington Preschool under the Start Strong Free Preschool funding model, which means families will be able to access 600 hours of free preschool a year for their children,” Mayor Asfour says.

“I am glad that Council is able to offer this amazing preschool to our community to assist with early childhood education. We know that the early years are most vital for children’s learning and development, leading to better outcomes for children as they progress through their years of schooling.”

The new preschool, located at 2 Carrington Square, will offer free education for eligible three- to five-year-olds two days a week under the Start Strong Free Preschool initiative. It will operate during school terms, with the option for additional paid care during the holidays and on an extra weekday.

This innovative space is also the first of its kind, as it is the first centre to combine an occasional care centre and preschool in the same facility. This provides a great opportunity for families with children of different ages to receive early childhood education at the same location.

There are still a few places available this year and we are taking bookings for next year. Find out more at cb.city/CarringtonPreschool

Enrolments will follow the Start Strong Free Preschool funding guidelines, prioritising four-year-old children, as well as three-year-old children from Aboriginal families, low income families and those with special needs.
