Warm weather, a party atmosphere and thousands of attendees made the 2023 Bankstown Bites food festival one to remember.

More than 14,500 people walked the streets of Olympic Parade, Bankstown, filling their bellies with delicious authentic food and taking part in the many amazing activities at the festival on Saturday (29 July).

Television host and winner of MasterChef 2017 Diana Chan and My Kitchen Rules 2022 fan favourite Arrnott drew large crowds with their drool-worthy cooking demonstrations, tastings and posed for photos with fans.

All but two of the 16 Food Tours also sold out – that’s a whopping 300 people who tasted more than 60 dishes, like Korean fried chicken, Malaysian and Thai roti with curry sauce, Vietnamese banh mi and Peking duck just to name a few.

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said this year’s Bites was a great success.

“Olympic Parade was bustling the entire day, with people filling up on delicious dishes and desserts from around the world,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

“I’m glad those who had the chance to enjoy one of the food tours on offer, were able to see the incredible food scene we have to offer in Canterbury-Bankstown and I hope they will come back with more of their family and friends to explore our City.”

Other highlights of the festival included dozens of food stalls, live entertainment, a cake decorating competition, barbecue cooking school, kids’ activities and roving entertainers.
Bankstown Arts Centre also launched its new exhibition, Plate, and ran a number of fantastic activities.
