Sydney Writers Festival 2025

Sydney Writers Festival returns to CBCity with authors Hayley Scrivenor and Dinuka McKenzie.

Tuesday 20 May, 6.30-7.30pm

From the award-winning author of Dirt Town, comes the bold, dramatic and utterly compelling, Girl Falling, created by Hayley Scrivenor.

Finn and her best friend, Daphne, have grown up together in the Blue Mountains. Bonded by both having lost a younger sister to suicide, they've always had a close friendship. Now in their twenties, their lives have finally started to diverge: Daphne is at university and Finn is falling in love with a beautiful newcomer called Magdu. One fateful day, Finn, Daphne and Magdu all go rock-climbing - and Magdu falls to her death. Is it suicide, a terrible accident - or something more sinister?

Displaying all of Hayley Scrivenor's razor-sharp skills for character, landscape, suspense and narrative, this is a breathtaking read.

Join Hayley Scrivenor in conversation with fellow crime author Dinuka McKenzie at Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre for Sydney Writers Festival.

Our event venue is accessible with ramp and lift access, accessible bathrooms and parking available.
