Steve is regarded by many Australians as the greatest cricketer of the modern era, an accomplished all-rounder who became a victorious captain.
Steve's life in international cricket was almost unprecedented in terms of the way it combined durability with excellence and triumph over more than a decade.

Beginnings
Steve was born and educated in the District, attending Panania Public School and went on to become a member of Bankstown-Canterbury District Cricket Club. While attending East Hills Boys High School he would win a CHS Blue for Soccer in 1983.
Achievements
Steve captained Australia's Test team 57 times for a remarkable 41 victories. He scored 10,927 runs in 168 Tests and a further 7569 runs in one day internationals.
He was appointed Captain of Australia's One Day side for the 1997-8 season and in 1999 led Australia to a World Cup Victory. In the same year, Steve was appointed Test captain and would lead the team in the years ahead to score a record 16 successive victories.

In 2004 Steve retired and turned to philanthropy, establishing the Steve Waugh Foundation for sick children.
