Beginnings

In 1983 Ross signed with Canterbury-Bankstown. In 1984 Ross would be selected for NSW and then chosen on the wing for the First Test against Great Britain. Ross would kick four goals in his only Test appearance.

Achievements

Ross pioneered a kicking style which was deemed revolutionary during the 1980s.

His around-the-corner, sideways shuffle approach to kicking goals bucked the trend of a forward type bunt, used at the time by Terry Lamb and Mal Meninga.

Post Representation

At the end of 1988 following the grand final Conlon at 29 retired from top grade rugby league to continue his teaching career. Today he is a HSIE teacher at Armidale's O'Connor Catholic School.
