Beginnings

Neville was a member of the Bankstown Swimming Club and trained at the Pool under Coach Don Talbot. By January 1960 Neville held both the junior 110 yard State Butterfly championship and the Open 110 yard and 220 yard championship.

Achievements

Neville took home two silver medals at the 1960 Rome Olympics in the 200m Butterfly and the 4 x 100m Medley Relay. At the NSW Men's Swimming championship in 1961 he set a world record time in the 220 yards Butterfly.

Post Representation

In 1967, the former world record holder, undefeated in dual meet competition at Harvard, had decided to quit the team. He graduated with a BA from Harvard University in 1967 and MBA from Harvard Business School in 1969.

Neville now lives in southern California with his family and he still swims over 9,000 yards a day. At least half of that is butterfly.
