City of Canterbury Bankstown CEO said he has taken immediate and urgent steps to address allegations raised against Council by the Bankstown MP.
The City of Canterbury Bankstown CEO, Mr Matthew Stewart, said he has taken immediate and urgent steps to address allegations raised against Council by Bankstown MP Tania Mihailuk.
“Ms Mihailuk has used parliamentary privilege to take an indirect swipe at Council and its processes,” Mr Stewart said.
“The comments about planning issues and processes have angered hard-working staff who continually strive for excellence and the best outcomes for the City.
Mr Stewart said the integrity of Council was being questioned and the matter necessitated an independent and thorough review.
He said he has already engaged with a prominent senior investigator and discussed Ms Mihailuk’s comments.
“We have also contacted one of Australia’s leading barristers to brief them about the situation.
Mr Stewart said he was hopeful a meeting with the top silk would take place as early as Friday and more details announced soon.
