Hundreds from across the community stood up, got a grip and pulled their weight against domestic violence at our annual Tug O’ War Cup this week!

Muscles buldged and teeth were gritted as more than 30 teams from local emergency services, organisations, businesses and schools picked up the rope to battle it out for the cup.

Taking out the win in the Men’s division was NSW Ambulance’s ‘Paramedic Pulling Club’, with team captain Brandon Lam saying their strategy was all “in the heart”.

“We as a service see domestic violence pretty often and it’s not spoken about enough when we’re on the job,” Brandon said.

“Because we’re based in Bankstown, we really wanted to get involved in the community event to show our support for the cause.”

Brandon said the team was thrilled to win the cup and the event brought them closer together.

“It was great for team morale, we really got into it!”

The CBCity Say NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup 2024 winners and runners up are:

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek also took to the rope to get his message across. He said while his team was no match for the Paramedic Pulling Club, they put up a brave fight.

“I know I pulled my weight and I hope everyone in our community does the same when it comes to stamping out domestic violence,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

The CBCity Say No to DV Tug O’ War Cup is an annual event giving local businesses and community organisations the opportunity to show their support in ending domestic violence.
