Kevin Nichols

Kevin is considered one of Australia's greatest cyclists. His dedication to the sport began at an early age, when he joined the Grafton Cycling Club as a 13 year old, and he would cycle up to 150km per week.

In 1971 Kevin moved to the District and by 1974 had been selected to represent Australia at the Christchurch Commonwealth Games winning Silver and setting records at Edmonton and Brisbane Games

Beginnings

Kevin was born and raised in Grafton and he came to the District so that he could train at the Wiley Park banked track. He would attend Birrong Boys High from 1971 1972, residing in Brennan Street, Yagoona with the Sandberg family and later moving to Condell Park.

Achievements

From 1976 to 1984 he would represent Australia at the Montreal, Moscow and Los Angles Olympics where he won gold in 4,000 Team pursuit.

Post Representation

Kevin Nichols has greatly contributed to the renaissance of cycling in Australia, helping it to return to its place among the best cycling nations in the world.
