Be alert: Fire ants detected in Inner West Sydney
Fire ants have been detected at Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre (the Intermodal Centre).
The NSW Government is implementing its biosecurity response following the detection of a red imported fire ant nest at the Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre.
Businesses and residents in the area around the Intermodal Centre will be reminded to remain vigilant and if they encounter suspect ants or ant mounds, to report it immediately.
- LEAVE IT: Do not destroy or treat the nest or try to capture ants
- SNAP IT: Safely take a clear photo or video for identification
- CALL IT: Call the helpline on 1800 680 244 or emailing invasive.species@dpird.nsw.gov.au
The NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD) will organise a community drop-in centre this week to help businesses and residents prepare, before a Biosecurity Control Orders comes into effect by the end of October 2026.
