Native plants are a good choice in gardens as they use less water than many non-natives and establish quickly

In an urban landscape like Canterbury-Bankstown, water is critical to quality of life. Without adequate water, vegetation and trees cannot grow, street and parks are too hot in summer and native animals cannot thrive.

Noxious plants and wildlife can have a significant negative impact on biodiversity, particularly in urbanised areas. 

Council processes thousands of complaints from the community about water, air and noise pollution, drainage, overgrown vegetation and unauthorised land use.

Bird Flu (Avian Influenza H5N1) is a highly contagious and deadly disease affecting wild birds and mammals, poultry, pets and, in rare cases, humans. The virus has led to extensive loss of domestic and wild birdlife in Australia and other parts of the world.
