Hayden is a part of the Australian men's softball team (better known as the Aussie Steelers), successfully gaining a position in 2016 and continuing until the current day (2025). 

During his time with the Australian men’s softball team, Hayden has attended numerous International ISF/WBSC events, including the World Cup in 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2024, which resulted in silver and gold medals in 2017 and 2022.

 

Beginnings

Hayden started playing T-ball at the young age of three, representing his Association at the State Championships in each age group before successfully gaining selection in his first NSW team aged 14 in 2010.

Since 2010, he has competed in an Australian National Championship each year, winning a total of four Junior National Championships, two batting titles and a most valuable player award before beginning his Open Men's career in 2016.

Achievements

Hayden has been awarded male athlete of the year by Softball NSW in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. In 2017 at the Australian Open Men’s National Championship, he was recognised as the best hitter and most valuable player. Hayden played in the Open Men’s Australian National Championships (NSW) in 2016, 2018, 2022 and 2023. Hayden was part of the Aussie Steelers in 2017 and won a silver medal at the ISF World Cup. In 2022, he played on the Aussie Steelers again at the WBSC World Championship.

Post Representation

Hayden is still currently the vice-captain of the Open Men's NSW team and is in the Australian Men's Softball Team which will be competing in the World Cup Finals in July 2025, attempting to defend their World Cup title.
